چکیده
There is emerging evidence for multifarious neurological manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but little known regarding whether they reflect structural damage to the nervous system. Serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) a specific biomarker neuronal injury. We measured sNfL concentrations 29 critically ill COVID-19 patients, 10 non–COVID-19 and 259 healthy controls. After adjusting comorbidities age, were higher in patients with versus both comparator groups. Higher levels associated unfavorable short-term outcome, indicating that injury common pronounced patients. ANN NEUROL 2021;89:610–616

Association between admission hypomagnesemia mortality or mortality of critically ill patients in intensive care unit
Background: Up to now there is no study evaluating correlation between serum magnesium and morbidity or mortality in patients admitted in intensive care unit. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of hypomagnesemia in critically ill patients and to evaluate its association with organ dysfunction, hospitalization period and mortality. Methods: We conducted a retrospective trial ...

The relationship of serum vitamin D level with the outcome in surgical intensive care unit patients
The aim of this study was to assess the correlation of serum vitamin D with ICU length of stay, mortality rate, length of mechanical ventilation, and incidence of sepsis. We conducted a descriptive analytic study on 793 patients admitted to surgical ICU wards in northwest of Iran from March 2015 to March 2016. Patients were assessed during the ICU stay and the following data were collect...

متن کاملVariability of serum phenytoin levels in critically ill head injured patients in intensive care unit
Patients with large variations in phenytoin levels despite standard doses may prove to become difficult clinical problems. Our study of 34 head injury patients whose serum phenytoin levels were measured on day one and day five following intravenous loading and maintenance dose of phenytoin, showed 38.24% patients, to have therapeutic phenytoin levels on day one, while 20% were in toxic range. O...
